Our Packaging
Living on an island makes you even more aware of the waste we create, so we make every effort to keep our waste to a minimum. Sadly, we cannot find a true suitable alternative to plastic for the bags our guernseys are packaged in, but we have made sure they are recyclable, which is better than biodegradable (that just turns into plastic dust for us all to breathe and ingest). Our postage bags are a compostable starch-based alternative which can be composted at home or in your curb side collection. We use yarn to tie in our garment swingers which are made from recycled cotton, meaning we have dispensed with those little plastic tags that normally fail to be recycled but soon add up to tons of plastic waste. Hopefully you can appreciate the effort that we are making, and that we are considering the environment to the best of our abilities.
If you are sending a guernsey as a gift, our packaging may make it difficult for you to keep it a surprise, because as you can see from the picture below the compostable bags are translucent, and we are required to fit a detailed customs form to the outer package for shipping. We therefore advise that you post the product to someone who can keep your secret until it is time to surprise that special someone!

Despite our best efforts every now and then, we may miss a bit of grass, hay, or baler twine—this can be teased out with tweezers.
