Caring for your guernsey

Some people never wash their guernseys, they are a made from 100% pure new British wool so shouldn’t hold smells and just airing your guernsey can be enough, but for those that want to clean their guernseys here is our advice.

Hand Washing

• Hand wash in cold water
• Use a wool appropriate soap
• Rinse well
• Lie your wet guernsey in a dry towel and roll it gently (like a Swiss roll) to
  absorb the excess water.
• Unroll and then lie flat on a dry towel or paper, until dry, if you have a clothes airer with horizontal shelves that works just fine.

Dry Cleaning
Ensure your cleaners know that your garment is pure new wool, and they should know what to do. 

Never tumble dry your guernsey!!

Our "Hanois" range

The Hanois range contains less than 1% of a reflective yarn and does not affect the wash or care guidance and is composition is as follows:- 21% Polyester Transparent, 62% Glass Beads, 4% Nylon, 7% Phenolic Resin & 6% Aluminium.

Storing your guernsey

You are best fold your guernsey and store it in a chest or draw, do not hang them on clothes hangers. For airing you can place a rod/pole through you garment from one cuff to another.

If you have an off season, when you are not using your garment for a while, we advise placing your guernsey in a sealed plastic bag and leaving it in the freezer overnight, this should kill any critters that may take a liking to eating your guernsey, only reopening the bag once you want to start wearing it again.

Despite our best efforts every now and then, we may miss a bit of grass, hay, or baler twine—this can be teased out with tweezers.
